Casa Bovedas Arcos De La Fronterra ... This B&B was one of the best we stayed in during our 4 weeks in Spain. Its location was perfect, though a little hard to drive to as the streets are so narrow and parking was at a premium as there was a festival on. Although the setting was perfect for ...

Description - Bed and breakfast

Located in the heart of the old town of Arcos de la Frontera, one of the most beautiful “pueblos blancos” or white towns in Andalusia and a historical heritage site, is the small simple and charming inn. La Casa de Bóvedas was recently restored by its owners, Cecilia Lozano and architect Remy Lemmens

With just two suites and three double rooms, all ensuite, it is a perfect example of the decoration and architecture of Andalusia: white plaster walls, colourful tiles, arches, furnishings in bright colours, open air courtyard and lovely views. No smoking rooms are available. Enjoy breakfast on the patio, and walk to one of the many nearby restaurants for dinner.

Covered patio and another open one, a terrace with excellent views. Hall with chimney All the rooms are ample, luminous and have central heating, conditioned air, TV, dryer of hair, reproducer of CD (music) and bath deprived in all the rooms with bathtub in the suites. Each room is different and are acclimated with meticulous detail for an pleasant rest and the comfort of the visitor, in where the understood traveller can enjoy the enchantment of the old houses and the comfort of the modern ones. All the house has connection to Internet by wireless route

The inn is located about 200 metres from Plaza del Cabildo (see the notes about parking). The streets of Arcos are very narrow and parking is at a premium, so you will save yourself a lot of anxiety if you just park your car out of the old town and walk to the hotel.

Neighborhood

This historical town, described by numerous writers as the most beautiful in Spain, occupies a privileged position at the foot of the country (see Europe map right) in Cádiz Province. Known as the Gateway to the Pueblos Blancos - White Villages - Arcos de la Frontera is close to the unspoilt Costa de la Luz, high sierra around Grazalema and beautiful cities like Cádiz and Jerez.
The historical quarter of Arcos, enclosed by the Cuesta de Belén (Bethlehem Hill) and the Puerta de Matrera (Matrera Gate), was declared a national monument in 1962.

In La Corredera, the street which crosses the town from top to bottom, entering from the A-382 road, you will come to the Hospital de San Juan de Dios, the old Vera Cruz shrine. At the end of the Cuesta de Belén is the Palace of the Condes de Aguila and nearby, lies one of the most precious jewels of the town: the castle, Arabic in origin, and later re-built by the Christians in around 1430. Going up Calle Deán Espinosa you come to the Iglesia de Santa María (St. Mary’s Church). This is the principal church of the Mary’s was built in the fifteenth century on the site of a mosque and the main façade is plateresque Gothic. For its part St. Peter’s looks more like a fortress and the style is Gothic

How to get there

We are situated right in the heart of the Old Quarter in a street called Bóvedas 200 mtrs from Plaza del Cabildo. This is a part of town where the streets are very narrow and parking is limited.

The closest airport to Arcos de la Frontera is just outside Jerez and it's located next to the A4/E5 Cádiz to Seville motorway, from which there is a nearby turn-off to Arcos de la Frontera (the A382). Seville airport is situated about 100 km north east of the city

Nearest airport: Jerez de la Frontera 25 minuts, seville, 90 minuts
